LOCAL GIFT CARD GIVEAWAY- Winner will be chosen on September 7th!
You read it right my fashion queens, I will be doing my very first giveaway and I'm beyond excited for several reasons.
As many know, Hurricane Dorian has recently hit the Bahamas as a Category 5 and has destroyed over half of the homes in the Abacos Islands. The Bahamas was left torn up and is underwater at this point- leaving most families hanging on by a thread. More than 20 deaths have been reported thus far and the prime minister expects more to come. These islands are left in ruins and has left many of us speechless.
The East coast of Florida was lucky enough to have dodged Dorian, but the Bahamas not so much. There is a large number of foundations all over the U.S collecting relief items in order to help out the Bahamas, and it is
heart warming to see everyone come together in an effort to help those in need. One foundation local to myself that is collecting a number of items, including clothing, is
Wicked Barley Brewing located in Jacksonville, Florida.
In an effort to collect an abundant amount and help out the Bahamas as much as I'm able, I have created a giveaway that is very easy to enter. If you enter, whether it be for the gift card or out of the kindness of your hearts, just know how much of an impact you alone are making.
Now, let's talk Giveaway and Hurricane Relief.
If you're a local to Jacksonville, FL, or happen to be in the area this weekend, you are able to enter.
What's the prize?
As this blog is to promote thrift shopping and all of its beauty, I will be issuing a $25 gift card to Plato's Closet, so get excited now.
How can I win?
DONATE. Whoever can donate at least 5 items from the list Wicked Barley has provided will be entered in the giveaway! Those 5 items can be five of the same thing, or five different things, whatever you desire to give will work (as long as its on the list.) If you don't have enough $$ to go out and buy particular items or times are really tight right now, here's what I suggest: As we are about to roll into another season, Fall, closest clean-outs are due. Donate your unused or unwanted clothing to someone in need. It's simple and requires little to no effort! Any type of (summer) clothing will be useful to the residents in the Bahamas, as many and most are now left with only the articles on their backs. Remember the 3 R's we discussed in my first Confession? Reduce, Re-use, and Recycle. What could be a better time to do so than now? Recycle your old clothing and you may win a gift card to a clothing store, where you can re-use others clothing!
-If you're low on money, another source I might suggest is the Dollar Tree, where literally everything costs a single dollar. Several of these items can be located in a Dollar Tree and could cost very low, anything helps. Or maybe sorting through the canned goods you may have an abundance of, as long as its not expired!
Not sure what to donate? Heres the list of items Wicked Barley is collecting:

Again, this Giveaway is funded and run by myself, Rachel, the author and creator of Confessions of a Thrifting Drama Queen, NOT Wicked Barley. I am dropping 100% of the donations collected to Wicked Barley, as they have a direct outlet to the Bahamas. I am creating this giveaway in hopes that it could push more people to donate in this time of need.
If you would like to read more on the matter, see
Here.
When are the donations due by?
I know it's tight, but I need ALL donations no later than 5 p.m Saturday, September 7th. Saturday is the last day Wicked Barley will be collecting donations, as they plan to ship the items over this weekend.
How can you get the donations to me?
If you know me personally, shoot me a message or a text message and we will meet up. If you don't know me, I'm glad you're here. Send me an email at rachlynn8585@gmail.com and we will find a way to exchange the donations.
Don't have time to meet up? That's fine! Bring the donations into Wicked Barley yourself and just send me proof of doing so, and your name will be entered in the giveaway. If you're going to drop off yourself, please provide me with a picture of your donations in the parking lot, and I will trust you. Their address is: 4100 Baymeadows Rd, Jacksonville FL 32217.
What exactly entails "clothing"?
ANYTHING one can wear on their body in the summer time. Remember, it is summer time and very hot out, especially in the Bahamas. Undergarments such as sports bras, bras, cami's, tank tops, boxers or underwear (I ask that those be new, in respect for those receiving), shorts, jeans, any type of pants, any types of tops, socks, headbands, ball caps. Please try to limit the amount of clothing you give, as a lot of clothing goes bad due to the relief volunteers not being able to sort it all out. It's just that easy folks!
So there ya have it, ladies and gentlemen.
Enter my giveaway and donate to those in need! If you're not interested in entering, that's totally fine. Donate on your own time, do what makes you happy.
Spread the word for me, if you don't mind. I want to collect as many donations as I can in order to help! Remember, all donations due to me or Wicked Barley by 5 p.m this Saturday, September 7th, in order to be entered in the giveaway! Thank you for the read and stay kind my friends.
See ya next time,
-Ray<3
